The Final Hour by Andrew Klavan

The Final Hour by Andrew Klavan was a rip roaring, gut busting, adventured jammed, thriller.

Charlie West, our all American hero, returns for the final installment in the Homelander series, in which we finally find out how he was captured, and escaped from prison. Following Charlie through prison was a story thread I would never have seen coming. The story also brought into focus  how he was captured, and his subsequent torture. The Final Hour finishes with a bang as Charlie battles an enemy on a tower—and one of them falls to their death.

I really enjoyed this book by Andrew; it was a great, fun, finish to a fantastic series I can recommend to anyone. That said, I didn’t enjoy this book quite as much as some of the others in the series. Part for this, was I believe, we followed Charlie through prison, before he’s on the run. Andrew did a good job with the prison scenes, really letting us feel the animosity, but like I said, I didn’t expect it. I feel  more of a present timeline focus of the book would have improved it.  That is really my only complaint with this clean high octant thriller.

I’ll miss Charlie and wish him the best. Thanks Mr. Klavan!
